Happy New Year!

2010 Art Journal

First page in my 2010 Art Journal. A pocket with my dreams and another with goals. Elephants are big and strong, wise, graceful, patient and carry the numbers into 2010. It will be a great year. I am starting it with the strength, wisdom, patience and grace of an elephant.

The page has gone all wobbly but it doesn't matter. It's yet another practice round and one more page finished! :)

Art Journal

Quickies

These two are quick portraits I have done. The bottom one was done in inks and charcoal pencil and the top portrait was done without doing a sketch first. I did that in gouache and watercolor and they were both just experimental and part of practicing and practicing and practicing.

From my Moleskine Art Journal

My first step in creating this page was to do a quick watercolor and gouache painting in monochrome (see monochrome picture). I then sealed the image with modge podge and allow it to dry completely. Next step was to paint a thin layer of transparent orchid white acrylic paint all over the page. Different colored inks were then applied where I wanted it as well as a few collage elements. The writing was done after everything was completely dry.

Merry Christmas!

Girl with white flowers.

From my art journal. Done in acrylic paints. I love drawing and painting faces! I did this on primed canvas material and glued it into my art journal. Practice, practice, practice! :)

From my art journal. We had our Christmas Dinner on Saturday and this page is dedicated to the event. The card I received on the left with the invite stuck inside. Each one of us received a Gift card for shopping at the Mall so I used the holder, covered it with gesso, used podge medium to paste the pictures thereon. The writing inside is a reminder of what I received and the food I had. It was a very nice evening with excellent food.
